We appreciate your decision to use our website and trust us with your personal information. In this document, we explain our privacy practices in clear terms. We strongly encourage you to read this document carefully before using the website. If you do not agree with any terms in this policy, please discontinue use of the website immediately. By using the website, you accept and consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

What Information Do We Collect About You?

When we collect information, we do so to ensure you experience our service seamlessly. This personal information includes:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Location data and IP address
  • Account profile information
  • User-submitted content (such as comments or uploaded images)

How Do We Collect Such Information?

We gather information about you through the following ways:

  1. Information you provide directly: When you register for an account, fill out forms, submit orders, or post comments.
  2. Information automatically collected: Collected from your device when accessing our service (e.g., via cookies, browser data, IP address).
  3. Information from third parties: Such as data aggregators, directories, or service partners.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small packets of information placed on your device to help us retrieve details like login states and site preferences.

  • Comment Cookies: If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience. These cookies last for one year.
  • Login Cookies: If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie is set to determine if your browser accepts cookies (discarded when closed). When logging in, cookies are set to save login details and display options. Login cookies last for two days, and screen option cookies last for a year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps your login active for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
  • Publishing Cookies: Editing or publishing an article saves an additional cookie in your browser (no personal data included, indicates post ID). It expires after 1 day.

For more details on cookie management, please visit our Cookie Policy.

Do Not Track Requests

We respond to “Do Not Track” requests in the following manner: Do Not Track requests are respected by denying cookie consent.

Analytics & Web Tracking (Matomo)

We use Matomo, a privacy-focused web analytics platform, to understand how visitors interact with our website. To protect your privacy, we have configured Matomo with strict security measures, data minimization, and anonymization protocols that go beyond standard configurations.

1. What Data We Collect (And How It Is Protected)

While Matomo is capable of collecting various data points, we have heavily restricted and anonymized this data to ensure your identity remains protected:

  • Anonymized IP Addresses: Your IP address is anonymized (masked by at least 2 bytes) so that it can never be used to personally identify you or your precise location.
  • Approximate Location: Geolocation is restricted to non-identifying, high-level geographical data (such as country or region) based on your anonymized IP.
  • Request Details: We record the date, time, and page generation speed of your request to monitor site performance.
  • Page Titles & URLs: We track which pages are viewed. All Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is automatically filtered out of Page URLs and Page Titles using Matomo’s recommended PII exclusion lists.
  • Anonymized Referrers: We only collect the referrer host or referrer type (e.g., finding us via a search engine), and we do not collect full referrer URLs that might contain personal data.
  • Standardized Browser & OS Data: We collect the main language of your browser and your User-Agent header. To protect your digital fingerprint:
    • Device model detection is disabled (we do not collect or report on your specific device brand or model).
    • Only major OS and browser versions are stored (e.g., “Windows 11” or “Chrome 120” rather than highly specific, tracking-friendly build numbers).
    • Screen resolution detection is completely disabled.
  • Interaction Data: We track basic interactions such as clicked files (downloads) and links to outside domains (outlinks).

2. Strict Privacy Guardrails & Restrictions

To guarantee maximum compliance and respect your right to privacy, we have enforced the following system-wide restrictions:

  • No User IDs: The collection of unique User IDs during tracking is completely disabled.
  • No Visits Log or Visitor Profiles: We do not keep a log of individual visits or build individual visitor profiles. The “Visits Log” feature is entirely turned off.
  • No Third-Party Cookies: Third-party cookies are strictly disabled. First-party tracking cookies can also be fully disabled by the user.
  • Data Masking & Rounding:
    • Campaign parameters (e.g., UTM codes) are automatically masked before they are stored.
    • Segmented data for count-based metrics (such as visits or pageviews) is rounded to the nearest 10 in all reports, exports, and API responses to prevent individual tracking.
  • Restricted Segments: Available segmentation options are strictly limited to remain fully compliant with privacy laws.

3. Restricted Ecommerce Analytics

We utilize limited Ecommerce analytics to understand our business performance under strict anonymization rules:

  • Order IDs are anonymized so they cannot be linked back to a specific customer profile.
  • Specific tracking segments—including Order revenue, Product price, Product name, and Product SKU—are entirely disabled to prevent transaction-level profiling.

4. Data Retention

We do not store your web analytics data indefinitely. All analytics data collected via Matomo is subject to a strict retention period and is permanently deleted after 180 days.

Why Do We Collect Information About You?

We collect and use your personal information for the following reasons:

  • To provide and maintain our products and services
  • To manage user accounts and user profiles
  • To fulfill contractual obligations
  • To contact users regarding support, updates, or transactions
  • To send marketing and promotional communications
  • To run privacy-respecting analytics (Matomo) to analyze website traffic and improve user experience

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Do We Share Your Data?

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data in the following circumstances:

  1. Sharing with Consent: When explicit consent is provided for third-party processing.
  2. Legal & Security Obligations: Disclosures required by law, court orders, or automated security processes (such as automated spam detection services for visitor comments).
  3. Password Resets: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
  4. Business Transfers: During negotiations or fulfillment of mergers, sales of assets, or acquisitions.

How Long We Retain Your Data

We keep personal information for 6 months, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax or accounting requirements).

Specific data retention exceptions:

  • Comments: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
  • User Accounts: For users that register on our website, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. Registered users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except username changes). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

GDPR Disclosures

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), processing is based on:

  • Consent: Granted for specific cookie preferences or opt-in marketing.
  • Performance of a Contract: Necessary for delivering order services or account management.
  • Legitimate Interests: Necessary to analyze traffic, run privacy-respecting analytics (Matomo), prevent fraud/spam, and improve service features.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

Under Articles 12–23 of the GDPR, you have the right to request access to, rectification of, or erasure of your personal data. If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

CCPA Disclosures

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal data is collected, request deletion or correction of data, limit use of sensitive personal information, and opt out of data sales/sharing (we do not sell your personal data). We will not discriminate against you for exercising CCPA rights.

To exercise your GDPR or CCPA rights, submit a request via email to: [email protected]. Requests will be processed and responded to within 45 days after identity verification.

Privacy of Children

We do not knowingly collect or solicit data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without parental consent, please contact us immediately so we can remove the data from our system.

Security of Your Personal Information

We take reasonable and appropriate technical measures to protect your personal data. However, no internet transmission or digital storage method can be guaranteed 100% secure.
